1.

Why: Using products not suited for your skin type (oily, dry, or combination) can cause breakouts or irritation.

How:

  • Wash your face with plain water and pat dry.
  • Wait 60 minutes without applying any products.
  • Check for shine (oily), tightness/flaking (dry), or shine only on the nose/forehead (combination).

Done when: You have identified your skin type as Oily, Dry, Combination, or Sensitive.

Why: Standard body soap is too alkaline and strips the facial skin barrier, leading to premature aging.

How:

  • For Oily skin: Buy a 'Foaming' or 'Gel' cleanser with Salicylic Acid.
  • For Dry/Sensitive skin: Buy a 'Cream' or 'Non-foaming' cleanser with Ceramides.
  • Ensure it is 'Fragrance-Free' to minimize irritation.

Done when: You have a dedicated facial cleanser in your bathroom.

Why: 90% of visible skin aging is caused by UV rays; SPF is the most effective anti-aging tool available.

How:

  • Look for 'Broad Spectrum' (protects against UVA and UVB).
  • Choose a 'Lightweight' or 'Matte' finish if you have oily skin to avoid a greasy look.
  • A mineral-based sunscreen (Zinc Oxide) is best for sensitive skin.

Done when: You have a daily-use sunscreen ready for the morning.

Why: Moisturizing seals in hydration and prevents the skin from overproducing oil to compensate for dryness.

How:

  • Look for ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid (for hydration) or Niacinamide (for oil control).
  • Ensure the product is 'Non-comedogenic' (won't clog pores).
  • For simplicity, you can use one moisturizer for both AM and PM.

Done when: You have a facial moisturizer suited to your skin type.

Why: Removes sweat and oils accumulated overnight and prepares the skin to absorb protective products.

How:

  • Splash face with lukewarm water (never hot).
  • Massage a dime-sized amount of cleanser for 60 seconds.
  • Rinse thoroughly and pat dry gently with a clean towel.

Done when: Morning cleansing is completed.

Why: Applying moisturizer while the skin is slightly damp traps extra water in the skin for longer-lasting hydration.

How:

  • Use a pea-sized amount.
  • Dot it on your forehead, cheeks, and chin.
  • Spread evenly using upward strokes.

Why: Sunscreen must be the outermost layer to effectively reflect or absorb UV rays.

How:

  • Use the 'two-finger rule': apply two strips of sunscreen to your index and middle fingers for full face/neck coverage.

  • Wait 2 minutes before heading outside.

Done when: Face and neck are fully protected from UV damage.

How:

Why: Shaving is a form of physical exfoliation; doing it incorrectly causes micro-tears and redness.

How:

  • Always shave 'with the grain' (the direction hair grows).
  • Use a sharp blade and replace it every 5-7 shaves.
  • Apply an alcohol-free aftershave balm with Aloe Vera immediately after.

Done when: Shaving completed without irritation or razor burn.
