The course seeks to explain human resource management within an international business context. The course focuses attention on the political nature of organisational decision-making, and highlights the importance for human resource management of effectiveness and influence through coalitions and alliances of interest. The key focus of the course is its international focus. The course seeks to examine international human resource management and its main aspects of context and activity, drawing on up-to-date theory in the field. By the end of the unit the student should be able to: · Understand the broad international environment in the modern day era;
· Understand specific trends and the future challenges that these face for international businesses;
· Understand how careers and strategic human resources are likely to be affected;
· Understand how work processes are changing in the international environment; and
· Contextualise international human resource management in the international political and cultural context. Contents of the course
