Jetzt Lernplan erstellenWe will investigate the interfaces between linguistic and non-linguistic cognition and focus on the core grammatical domains of morphology, syntax, and semantics. We will concentrate on the nature of the formation of novel lexical concepts as well as the empirical methods to investigate the issues in question. After a short introduction to the theoretical background of the topic we will explore different models of grammar in this cognitive domain and examine the implementation of the specific conditions arising from a modular language system. A reader will be provided.
Note that in order to participate in this course it is compulsory for you to have passed the exam in the OK -Introduction to Linguistics- (or equivalent). You are asked to present your transcript in the first session.
Important information: Participation in this class requires a strong command of the fundamentals of cognitive/generative linguistics. Due to the highly interactive and theoretically dense nature of the seminar the number of participants will be limited. Therefore all students intending to participate are requested to write a short abstract (not more than 300 words), which describes their interest in the topic and the specific contribution to the discussion of the research subject.
All abstracts must be submitted to Friederike Kreter (f.kreter@uni-kassel.de) by March 31, 2013.
