In a first step, we will get acquainted with theoretical approaches to analyse European integration and Europeanization and will acquire some background knowledge about the key institutional features of the EU. Furthermore, issues like industrial relations and business lobbying in the EU as well as the European enlargement process will be analysed.
We will then focus on the EU as an actor in the field of economic policy/ trade policy (Global Europe strategy, European Partnership Agreements).
In subsequent sessions we will broaden the view in order to look in more depth at other regional integration processes (NAFTA, ASEAN, SADC, AU) from a theoretical point of view, but also with reference to the different experiences of regional integration in the Global South.
The seminar aims at developing a broader understanding of European and Regional Integration and the political dimensions of these processes from a theoretical point of view. It is therefore designed for 2nd year GPE and 2nd year students of the Master of Political Science programme or advanced students of Magister Politikwissenschaft .
Mainly for: MA GPE (MCC V), 6 credits
Also open to: MA LPG (E 6), 4 credits
Magister Politikwissenschaft (Internationale und intergesellschaftliche Beziehungen und Außenpolitik), Master Politikwissenschaft (Modul 1) (6 credits)
