This seminar aims to offer students the chance to learn more about planning lessons in theory as well as writing lesson plans. This shall prepare them for the requirements they will have to face when starting the Referendariat after their graduation. On the other hand, this seminar also aims to give students the chance to gain experience as a language teacher. The first aim will be achieved by giving students a broad idea of the requirement to lesson plans; e.g. how to correctly phrase topic, aim and leading question of a lesson, writing a didactic comment, etc. . Students will get complete lesson plans that will be analysed in class. Helpful material will be provided. In this context we will also cover modern approaches to (language) teaching such as methods of cooperative learning environments. During their placement at the Gesamtschule Wanne-Eickel students will both observe English lessons but are also encouraged to gain experiences in teaching (team teaching is always welcome!). We will take time to talk and reflect upon lessons as often as possible. Students who take part in this seminar will have to write a placement report that documents the procedure of the placement.
