The Dutch Queen Emma (1858 - 1934) was born in Arolsen, a small residence town near Kassel. In 1879 she married the Dutch King Willem III. On the occasion of her 150th birthday the museums in Arolsen and Pyrmont are planning an exhibition, which will be opened on the 30th of May. Jens Freitag, who has been working with the museums for a long time, has initiated an experimental student project, which is to reflect this relation in its various aspects. The task is extremely open, except that there have to be presentable results for the exhibition opening on 30th of May. This is the challenge and the excitement of the project. We are thinking of intelligent devices / services / experiences / souvenirs / installations / ... for the museum visitors. The personal / associative / emotional / evocative aspects should be addressed. The borderline towards art objects becomes fuzzy here... We are still looking for 5-6 (not necessarily male!) Dutch students for this experimental Dutch-German project. The same number of German (female) students have already registered. The collaboration should proceed in the form of self-organized Dutch - German -couples- or -tandems-, who communicate via Wiki. Duration: February, March, April, May. There will be a 3-day workshop in Bad Arolsen from 26-28 March. Travel expenses, board + lodging will be provided from our side.
