You have registered for the course -Introduction to Semiotics-. I am
writing you today because the number of students is too high and a
solution of the problem is needed. Please check the following items very
carefully.
1. Please check whether you are aware that his course can only begin on
June 6 and will take place every Monday from 8 am to 1 pm. In case you
cannot attend the course regularly every Monday from 8.00 to 13.00,
please unregister on Hispos for this course.
2. The Institute for English and American Studies informs me that a new
Proseminar is being offered by Professor Wallmannsberger under the title
-Linguistics and Media Studies- (Ang075) (http://kurzlink.de/vhqmDpI61).
The advantage, it takes place regularly every week from the first to the
last week of the semester. If this is a better alternative for you and
you decide to attend this course instead fo mine, please unregister.
3. For students who have considered the options 1 and 2, but still want
to participate in my course, I have the following announcement.
4. All visiting students who are guests from other from universities,
e.g., from Italy or Spain, can consider themselves admitted to this course.
5. All regular students registered on HISPOS need to make up their mind
urgently and decide in which modality you want to or need attend the
course. Please chek your Studienordnung carefully where you will find
the answer. In case of doubt, please ask at the Prüfungsamt to find out
in which form you should participate.
6. All students who only want to attend the course in the modality
-Vorlesung- or -active regular attendance- are admitted. These students
will not have to and not be able to participate in a final test
(Klausur), nor will they hand in a term paper (Hausarbeit). At the end
of the semester they have to hand in Lecture Notes that document their
regular and active participation.
Students of the categories 1 to 6 do not need to send me any message.
7. Students of the modalities Hausarbeit and Klausur are requested to
send me an e-mail with the Ref. -Introduction to Semiotics-, their
matriculation number and a letter of intent in which you explain why you
want to or need to attend the course. Please include information on your
semester, the semester in which you attended sucessfully the
-Introduction to Linguistics-, and possibly the names of other
linguistics courses that you have attended as well as the particular
reasons why you ant to or need to attend this course and not an
alternative course. I need this information as soon as possible. I will
decide on the number of students that can be admitted under the
modalities of Hausarbeit or Klausur by April 12.
Best regards,
Winfried Nöth
