Why is reading important? How can we motivate our pupils to read books?
Which ways of reading and which methods do exist?
What kind of literature (novels, comics, dramas, shot stories) can be read in class?
How can we integrate the movie of the book in the EFL?
How can we activate students to work creatively with literature?
First, we are going to have a look at different approaches of reading literature on the EFL (reading skills, reader response theory, creative writing, closed vs. open learning, keeping a reading log).
Requirements (Studienleistung):
Regular and active participation is required*.
In small groups, students are asked to explain the most important approaches briefly.
As a second step, everyone chooses (at least) one piece of literature according to his/her Lehramt (L2, L3, L4) and according to the current curriculums. Students are given time work on the chosen piece of literature and to develop creative tasks for the EFL.
In a final gallery walk, everyone presents his/her results. Thus, you will have an overview of useful books and tasks for the English classroom in the end.
Modulprüfungsleistung:
See Studienleistung, plus written term paper for modul 5b
Students of L2, L3 and L4 are welcome.
*This is an interactive seminar, regular active participation is required. This complies with
