INTERCULTURAL EXCHANGE WORKSHOP
JUNE 21-27, 2008
ISTANBUL, TURKEY
RESEARCH CENTER FOR INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE
The aim of the Research Centre is to create an environment for interdisciplinary events and researches which will contribute to discussions about the phenomenon of culture and intercultural dialogue with its various dimensions and in its entirety. Due to its interdisciplinary character, the Centre hosts projects conducted by various departments of the university, such as Translation Studies and International Relations.
Objective of the workshop
It is significant that the relations between the cultures of East and West, and North and South are diverted (dissociated) from the notion of conflict, and are reconstructed on the basis of peace and reconciliation. The promotion of political, cultural and economic exchange is crucial in order to elicit peaceful (conciliatory) access and dialogue among different societies and cultures. This interdisciplinary workshop will be carried out to raise consciousness about cultural divergences and commonalities. To this effect, students with various cultural backgrounds are welcome to participate in our workshop in Istanbul as a histotival setting.
The workshop comprises following course units and participants completing all requirements will be granted 3 credits (6 ECTS) to be transferred to their home institutions.
