Please note there is NO LSF registration for this project. To register, sign up for a pre-departure workshop on the list outside room 162 and come to talk to a tutor about your plans:
Christopher Thomas: Do 10-12 (Room 162
Heather Weik-Price: Mi 10-12 (Room 162)
Gill Woodman: Fr 10-12 (Room 161)
The aim of this project is to develop students' intercultural competence (including language skills). Students are required to integrate into the culture of an English-speaking country for a minimum of 8 weeks and to reflect on the experience in the form of a piece of project work. Students wishing to take part are strongly advised to read the information on the department homepage and on the ICP Moodle website. Please note that there is no weekly class during the semester. The times shown here on LSF are for Sprechstunden for individual meetings with the tutors. The ICP basically consists of 3 parts:
1) Pre-departure (during semester): Organisation of stay. The weekly times set aside for this with Woodman, Weik-Price and Thomas are office hours designed to help you organise your project. There is also a pre-departure workshop in intercultural communication awareness training (always on a Saturday: sign up on the board outside room 162 and NOT on lsf).
2) In-country (usually between semesters): minimum of 8 weeks in chosen (English-speaking) country in a meaningful context for the purpose of developing intercultural competence (i.e. not merely travelling).
3) Post-stay : debriefing workshop, submission of reflective report
For further information see our homepage (Abteilungen/Sprachpraxis/Intercultural Project) and our Moodle site 'The Intercultural Project' (see links).
