Projekt Landschaft als Kunst Kulturlandschaft als Kunstwerk

Die -documenta 13- steht vor der Tür. Traditionell wird auf dieser Ausstellung Kunst sowohl im Inne- wie Außenraum präsentiert. Ziel diese Projekts ist es, Konzepte und Entwürfe für Ausstellungsflächen im Freien, die der -documenta 13- dienen, zu entwickeln. Die Vorschläge sollen über die -documenta 13- hinaus zu einer Qualifizierung der Flächen beitragen und die Identität der Stadt Kassel durch ikonografische Interventionen stärken. Schon immer haben sich Künstler der -documenta- mit dem Thema Landschaft befasst. Das bekannteste Kasseler Beispiel liefert Joseph Beuys mit dem Projekt -7000 Eichen-, das die Kasseler Stadtlandschaft nachhaltig verändert hat. Auch Landschaftsarchitektur kann Kunst sein. Man spricht z.B. von Gartenkunst und -Landart-. Auch hier kann Kassel mit bedeutenden Werken aufwarten z.B. mit den modernen Bundegartenschauen von 1955 und 1981 sowie geometrischen Gärten des Barocks und Landschaftsgärten nach englischem Vorbild (Auepark, Bergpark, Wilhelmsthal, Hauptfriedhof). Diese sind Ausdruck von Kunst werden aber auch als Kulturlandschaft wahrgenommen Diese Beispiele dienen als Referenzen für das studentische Projekt. Allen Beispielen ist gemein, dass sie Kunst und Kulturlandschaft zugleich sind. Sie sind vor allem aber - wie die -documenta- - Teil der Kasseler Identität. Das Projekt dreht sich daher um das Konzept Landschaft, Kunst und Identität. Um diese zu verstehen hilft ein Blick auf Arbeiten zur Wahrnehmungspsychologie. Was Beuys mit den -7000 Eichen- und andere mit den historischen Parks zur Kasseler Identität beigetragen haben, soll analysiert werden. Nur durch das Verstehen der Genesis von Identität ist es möglich neue landschaftliche Interventionen, die Kunst und die Konstruktion von Landschaft miteinander verbinden und so Identität stiften und stärken, zu entwickeln Neben der Recherche theoretische Grundlagen zu den Themen Konstruktion von Landschaft, regionale / lokale Identität, Kunst und Landschaft steht in diesem Projekt das Erlernen und Anwenden planerischer und entwurflicher Grundkenntnisse im Vordergrund. Landschaft as Art - Cultural Landscape as ‚Kunstwerk' 2012 is the year of the ‚documenta 13'. Art will be presented indoors and outdoors. The aim of this project studio is to make conceptual planning and design proposals for future 'documenta' outdoor exhibitions. These proposals serve to qualify existing open space and objects in the Kassel urban landscape. One objective is to help and enrich the Kassel Identity by making iconographic design interventions. One legacy of the 'documenta' is that participating artists are eager to include landscape into their art work. Joseph Beuys and his '7000 Oaks' may be the one project that has had the greatest impact on the Kassel urban landscape. At the same time art may be produced by landscape architecture, also known as 'garden art' and 'landscape art'. Kassel harbours important examples, including landscapes that resulted from centennial garden exhibitions such as BuGa 1955 and 1981, as well as geometric and landscape parks and cemeteries such as the 'Auepark', 'Bergpark', 'Wilhelmsthal', and 'Hauptfriedhof'. These landscapes are expressions of art, and at the same time they are considered cultural landscapes. All of these examples serve as reference for this student project. What these examples all have in common is that they are both art and cultural landscape at the same time. And, most of all, they are part of the Kassel identity - as is the 'documenta' itself. Concepts of landscape, art and identity are at the centre of this project. To try and understand these concepts approaches might be useful that perception studies have developed. We will employ such approaches and methods to analyse how the '7000 Oaks' projects and the famous Historic Parks have added significantly to the Kassel identity. Learning to understand the genesis of identity may be a key to make new significant landscape interventions, combining art and the making of landscape. The learning aims of this project studio include basic and advanced planning and design applications, as well as researching theories and concepts of landscape, landscape as art, and landscape as part of local / regional identity.
