Projekt Unplugged

We are tuned-in, plugged-in and on-top-of-things almost 24 hours a day. How can we reflect and take a distance to get into the depth nowadays? Or do you prefer to be more pragmatic and simply like to find alternatives for our growing amount of electric devices? When Erik Clapton plays guitar without a plug he still plays the same tunes. In jazz unplugged works different: the base and drum are there but the rest is improvisation and the music sounds always completely different. the theme is clear, but the rules are up to you You are challenged to set your own parameters and decide on your own rules, your parameters can be straight and clear from the start or pretty open. clear parameters and straight rules: – designing a product that functions without a plug? – designing a product without connecting to your computer at all during the proces of the project... would that still possible? – designing a product using low/no energy production methods? or open and reflective: exploring & finding new space – taking out the plugs and rethinking the purpose of design or your position in design? – designing a new product without minding about the existing current? U N P L U G G E D : the theme is clear but the rules are up to you! Set up of the program: I will generally be in Kassel every 2 weeks for 2 days. We start April 20 10:00h. During our gatherings we start with 'kürzeinfuhrungen' This term they will be a mix of kürzeinfuhrungen' by students and by themes that Ineke will talk about. These can also be requests. The End results are required to be clear, clean and clever. Visual and contextual consistence of the project will be as importantas its design: how it is embedded in our time or fit into our lives? Freie projecten / diplom arbeit: Next to the UNPLUGGED project there might be space for students that like to discuss 'freie projecten' or diplom arbeit. Applications: There is space for a limited amount of students.
