Visual Overture
You are to analyse one minute of a chosen animation and/or film in regard to moving image specific aspects like:
mise-en-scene, montage, narration, timing, action in the frame, character profiling, key character position, framing heights, camera position, camera movement, forms of transition, colour, sound…
Theoretical investigation is a text based research document in form of an essay of around approximately 1.000 words related to your visual overture based on topic of your choice.
The visual overture and the theoretical text should help you to explore possibilities of film analysis and critical writing. Both documents will be handed in/presented at the end of the summer term 2014 as part of this lecture.
