STEFAN THIERSE VERTRITT DIE STELLE IN ALLEN FUNKTIONEN UND BIETET DIESEN KURS AN. //////The character of the European Union as a political System is rarely disputed nowadays. The EU is less than a state, but more than an international organization. Nevertheless, decision-making procedures and modes of intregration vary greatly across policy fields. In the face of the numerous contemporary crises, it becomes evident once more that basic constitutional questions regarding the distribution of competences, the institutional architecture and decision-making procedures in the EU can hardly be answered definitively.  This advanced course focuses on the political system of the EU in theory and practice. In a first introductory part, we will discuss the key EU institutions, their powers and prerogatives. In the second part, we will analyze the interaction between institutions and levels of governance from the perspective of fundamental dilemmas of the EU constitutional order. Current events and developments will be used to illustrate to what extent these endogenous dilemmas generate problems and will feed into debates, which form an integral part of this course.     Bemerkung ACHTUNG- interne Deadline: Der Anmeldezeitraum läuft vom 01.09.2016 bis zum 02.10.2016, 23.59 Uhr (MEZ).
